With more than 30 years working in the media, Jeremy Piper ‘s photojournalistic approach offers a contemporary view of editorial and commercial photography. With a deep understanding of the news cycle, from politics, social and environmental issues, Piper works successfully with large media outlets and government agencies in managing large commissions through to deadline driven assignments.

Jeremy balances the struggles and wonder of daily life with his photojournalistic approach to his subject. His documentary photography of the National Waterfront Dispute in 1998 and the building of the Sydney Opera House “The Colonnade” are held in institutional collections and has been widely exhibited throughout regional Australia and extensively in France

It was the death of the billions of creatures larg

It was the death of the billions of creatures large and small that hit me most whilst covering the Blacksummer bushfires. At one stage, standing alone on Putty road near Singleton in the late afternoon , I remember looking down at my feet as the earth moved with hundreds of beetles , bugs and I counted three funnel web spiders a little to close heading my way as they scampered away from the approaching fire.
At times I would leave a couple of eski’s filled with water along the road for the horses or the birds and in the blue mountains up towards Mount Victoria after the fire left only a barren moonscape of ash I left some take away containers and lids off bottles with water for the lizard that survived and stuck his head out from under a rock .
My last fire that I covered that season was in Bredbo, near the ACT border, that’s when I saw Mel comforting her newly rescued Brumby she name Lou after finding him sheltering in the toilet block in Kosciuszko National park. The large fire front was approaching her property but she was preparing to stay as she was unable to get her two horses and her dogs out . Thankfully the rapid grassfire burnt to the north of her. There is an @oculi summer print sale going on for one week to raise money for an upcoming Oculi event in 2022.
As we all got smashed during covid, particularly the arts it’s a perfect time to grab a wonderful signed print from any or all and begin your Christmas / festive season shopping early . $100 for the print .
